You can start with absolutely any fitness level – even if you have no prior sports experience at all.
Yes, there are no medical contraindications for women in rowing. A common myth suggests it dramatically broadens shoulders, but this is entirely false—just another baseless stereotype in our world.
The minimum age is 9-10 years depending on physical development - this limitation is dictated by the boat's design specifications. After 70 years, everything depends on your health condition and personal comfort level. Similarly, with weight exceeding 130 kilograms, some difficulties may arise concerning personal comfort regarding proper seating in the boat due to its construction, though this likewise doesn't constitute an absolute restriction.
Clothing should be form-fitting or as close to it as possible. In warm weather - cycling shorts, summer-weight leggings, or snug-fitting shorts that don't restrict movement are ideal, paired with a close-fitting t-shirt. For cooler temperatures - choose leggings with appropriate warmth level or properly fitted training pants along with a fleece/jacket. If the jacket has front pockets, they should have zipper closures.
You can start rowing on the water from the first training session.
At your first training session, your coach will meet you and provide complete guidance — where to go, where to change, how to behave in the boat and on the water, how to properly board the boat, and what to do to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment throughout. Your coach will accompany you for the entire session, getting in the boat with you to help you do everything correctly.
A training session lasts 75-90 minutes.
Since training takes place outdoors where weather can be unpredictable, there's always a chance of rain. However, your coach will have rain gear available for these situations. While capsizing is theoretically possible, the risk is extremely minimal in a trainer-accompanied double scull (in a boat for two people, where each rower has two oars).
As a non-impact, non-contact sport, rowing is exceptionally low-risk for injuries. Provided you have no acute medical conditions and can walk comfortably, you can safely get in a boat and start rowing. Moreover, recreational rowing offers exceptional full-body conditioning while being uniquely joint-friendly - the seated position eliminates stress on knees entirely.
Yes! There are now numerous competitions available for non-professional athletes. These include both Russian regattas and international events, with travel opportunities for those interested in participating abroad.
Yes. During winter, we offer several training alternatives:
· Indoor Rowing Tank Sessions. Practice in a stationary boat simulator that closely replicates on-water rowing technique and motion.
